If you’re seeking to improve your relationships; make changes in areas you have felt stuck in; process painful events or life transitions; further access your creativity and leadership; and are looking for a dynamic and interactive therapist, our therapeutic relationship may be a great fit.
While I work with adult and adolescent clients on a range of concerns, I have extensive experience working with people who have endured abuse or violence, as well as in working with people of transgender experience, queer people, and people of color. I bring an intimate understanding of how trauma and grief can be laced into everyday life, especially for people who have marginalized identities and life paths.
I invite you to take a breath, right now, and notice what happens inside of you as you read. Is there hope, anxiety, something else? Any reactions make sense and can be better understood within the safety of a strong therapeutic relationship.
I bring together various approaches including AEDP; somatics and mindfulness practices; and DBT skills, in order to help my clients make sense of difficult feelings, cultivate self-acceptance, and make their present-day longings come alive. My work is grounded in my own life experiences, clinical experience and supervision, formal trainings, and healing justice and liberation frameworks. I graduated from the NYU School of Social Work in 2007, and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have been training and receiving supervision in AEDP since 2015, and began learning and healing with generative somatics in 2013.
For nearly 20 years I’ve worked in a range of environments spanning a domestic violence shelter, hospitals, and mental health clinics; colleges and medical schools; as well as advocacy, youth development, community organizing, and artistic spaces— in organizational, programmatic, training, and direct service capacities. My clinical skills were especially deepened at the Crime Victims Treatment Center and at Mount Sinai’s Center for Transgender Medicine and Surgery, where I provided free trauma-focused therapy. I am a member of the National Queer and Trans Therapists of Color Network, co-founder of QTPOC Therapists NYC, and serve as Co-Chair on the Board of Advisors of the Third Wave Fund, a philanthropic organization which funds youth-led organizing at the intersections of gender justice, racial justice, and reproductive justice.
I am passionate about my work, and always growing in it. I also have immense respect for my clients’ curiosity and perseverance in understanding themselves and the world around them, and I look forward to hearing from you.
